I didn't expect it either. I can also do archery, but that's more ceremonial than combative.

How'd you even get started in that anyway? I didn't think that was really a thing a lot of people did.

I was asked to join the archery club at school and since they were the first people to approach me, I said yes.

[ Hm. ]

No interest in it before or anything? Doesn't seem like an easy hobby to pick up just because somebody asked.

It wasn't easy to gain the strength for it. But it was easy to understand the different steps of it, as I went. So I got better quickly.

[ he thinks about asking if she even likes it before realizing she might not actually have an answer. instead he settles for leaning a little more for warmth and thinking of how to rephrase that. ]

Think you'd keep doing it if the people who got you into it quit?

I did. The captain graduated. And I told my mom... I should at least let the juniors feel settled, since they look up to me as an upperclassman.

That's pretty cool of you to want to integrate them. Then again, if you were already putting in that much work to learn I guess it'd be kinda silly to just stop. Sounds like a good balance to your music.

When you're looking at the target, it's only the target.

It's always easier when nothing else exists to focus on, except one thing.

But that's not my reality anywhere else.

[ In a sense, she needs that space. That moment where she doesn't have to think about anything except what's directly in front of her. ]

[ this is where they differ (among other things) because yosuke is a person who focuses best when multiple things are happening. even in battle he's constantly listening to music, mapping out attacks to the beat and strategizing on the go. at junes it's fielding issues and announcing sales and consultations for other departments. it's normal.

All the more reason to keep it up then. It's something you get to really do for yourself, in the end.

Mm. I do miss doing it here. But there's no real time for it.

I don't know about that. [ yes, they have to progress, but. ] We're moving at the right pace, and... it sucks, but this is as fast as we can go right now. Maybe something will come up with the next section of the maze or something. I think there's a little time for stuff we like, it's why I took time to practice when we had our trailers around.

Oh, no. I had a guitar in my trailer, so... I figured it was better to practice in there so it wasn't too loud for everybody at the manor.

[ well he does like his knives, but. ]

I didn't know you played guitar.

[ Maybe because he hadn't played at the manor-- ]

[ stop he had other reasons for playing in the trailer only. ]

I'm still teaching myself, but I've been practicing for about a year? I didn't really start getting more serious about it until about six months ago though.

Really? [ well, no, this makes sense. ] If we get the chance again, I wouldn't mind playing for you. I could use the experience anyway. Plus it'd be fun playing for someone who appreciates music.
