[ he sighs tiredly and shrugs. he reaches over to grab his notebook and quickly scribbles on it. ]

Reeeeally wish we had any idea what the hell would disappear at the time, but at least this is a little better than last time.

I understand that. I'm glad you didn't lose your abilities.

[ Just his voice. ]

Yeah, me too. I don't want to do that twice, and at least we know it'll come back eventually.
Sorry. I know this is gonna be annoying until then.

[ ... he shifts his guitar aside and looks at the other half of the bed before looking at her. come sit? ]

[ That much is easy to tell. So she'll move over to sit on the bed beside him.

Still looking him over, as though she's still concerned. ]

[ it's mafuyu so he's more careful about it, but he does tip over to lean against her a little once she sits. ]

This was way too many people and I really, really hope this is the last of it.

[ the river healed him, but he's still probably a little tired from the sp drain. ]

[ Wearily, letting him lean. ]

Kinda tired, but that always happens.
At least Hien didn't fight for too long or I would've run out of energy for spells.

Do you want me to get you anything? Water? Food?

[ Mafuyu is a fusser in her own way. ]

Maybe help me brainstorm what to do for everybody who just got back?

[ they are both fussy, but he's apparently content with leaning against her and having her company. ]

I've just been checking on them. A lot of them seem to be fine if I just sit with them silently.

Well, silence is about all I can offer them right now so that's good, haha.

[ he is not coping well with not having a voice. ]

I've been sending out texts and visiting when they all get settled, but it's probably gonna take a little while to fully untangle all of this.

And they all have support, too.

But it's nice when you do talk, so it's not like you have to all the time.

[ a pause. taps his pen on the page. ]

Is this your way of saying I should let up for a bit because somebody else has it covered?

[ Flatly. ]

If that's what I meant, why wouldn't I have just said that?

[ he lifts an eyebrow. ]

You would be surprised how many people seem to mean things in what they say to me that they don't outright say because they're being nice.
But good point. I've always trusted you to be upfront at least, it's what I like about you.

I wouldn't be surprised. I'm used to that. [ She's done it back home plenty of times. ]

But what I meant was that you don't have to feel as though you're the only one who has to support everyone. And you need to rest more right now.

[ a noise like "eh, fair enough." ]

I'm used to it. You know that. It's hard to relax sometimes knowing a lot's happening but I know you're right.
I probably should've thought it through a little more, but it made sense at the time.

There's no point in regretting it now.

[ Says the one who had to watch all of this go down. ]

... But maybe try laying down and thinking of something else, for the time being?

Not really a regret. Would've done it anyway.

[ so you know. but she says "try laying down and thinking of something else" and he decides it's time to be a stupid affectionate dog and tip over to sprawl partially in her lap. ]

You know, I think that's probably good advice for both of us? I don't even wanna know how it looked from the outside.

[ Mafuyu stares down at him. Like she's not sure why he's doing what he's doing. Are laps that comfortable?

Slowly, she rests a hand on his head, lightly petting his hair. ]

It didn't look good. But I'll be fine--I haven't finished with checking on people yet.

[ it's exposure therapy (no.) it's really just because he's half-asleep and he trusts her and assumes if it's too much she'll push him off. this is apparently the right move though since he's turning his head into her hand just once before focusing on scribbling again. ]

Take whatever time you need to. I'm okay whenever you wanna split to go check on people, too.
There's definitely a lot of people to check on.

[ he can understand if she needs to chill for a bit, but he's also understanding if she wants to keep going to checking on people. ]

I'll stay for a little while longer.

[ This is fairly decisive, for her. But Yosuke seems to be relaxing, and Mafuyu does well with these quiet moments. So he can get comfortable.
