[ you're so real for this actually, who am i to stop you.
nearly just as automatically, he takes the hand to haul himself up, a little squeeze of gratitude before he nudges tsukasa forward. lead the way, my guy. he will follow. ]
he leans against the counter for a moment to watch tsukasa go, but he does wander a little closer when he speaks and scribbles on his notebook again. ]
I'm good with that. I like rice just as well. Want me to get it started?
[Besides which, it's good for both of them to keep themselves busy, surely.
While Yosuke starts to handle the rice, Tsukasa starts setting up his mise en place for the nikujaga. Measuring out the seasonings, the dashi, the mirin, the soy sauce, chopping veggies...]
I know that we don't really need to eat here, but... hm, well. It feels better to do so, and to keep up some sort of schedule as much as possible.
[ that's correct, they are the same brand of busybody where he needs stuff to do. he will busy himself with the rise and doesn't reply for a moment because he doesn't have hands. but once the rice is set up to cook, he's back to writing. ]
Food doesn't always have to be just about feeding yourself when you're hungry anyway. Sometimes it's nice to do it with friends or as a nice gesture for somebody or, like you said, a routine. Helps the days be less confusing.
[ he's watching tsukasa go while keeping an eye on the rice to make sure it doesn't burn or overcook. ]
Well yeah, I'd be a little more surprised if you didn't. This is way out of your element, so you want to go back to what makes sense. You know how it works, so it feels less daunting than trying to figure out how to deal with the hard and scary stuff here.
[ understandable. when you're in a normal situation, you always think that you can handle anything life throws at you. isn't that why he flung himself headfirst into solving the mystery? ]
Somehow I doubt you ever thought it'd be THIS crazy, man. You can imagine one thing and stuff not be prepared for what happens. Do you feel like you've learned from here though anyway?
[He beams, not a bit of hesitation in his words or expression.]
I've learned so much here! And that doesn't even take into account the people I've met and the friendships I've made. Truly, despite everything... I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.
[ this is exactly what he was talking about when he said tsukasa had abilities not everyone has. ]
Do you know how strong you are for being able to see the good in all of the crap we've gone through? Your optimism really never fails to surprise me, man. But I don't disagree. I wouldn't trade either.
[It does smell good... Tsukasa grins at Yosuke at that.]
As if I ever could!
Regardless, that will need to simmer for twenty minutes or so.
[Hmmm, how to entertain themselves in the meantime...]
Ah, I know! Will you tell me more about your powers in the meantime? I understand somewhat the broad strokes of how they work now, but there's still a lot I don't know. What were those--attacks you used?
[ he can deal with twenty minutes, sure. there's a smile though because he's glad tsukasa's agreeing, and then he blinks a little at the question. ]
Oh, yeah sure. All of our Personas can learn different skills the stronger they are, but they can only really keep eight of them at a time. So as we get stronger some powers are forgotten and others get a boost. All of us kind of specialize in certain elements, too. Mine's wind, so I can use really powerful wind spells against opponents either individually or a group all at once. We try to keep a good mix of offensive and defensive spells on us. I told you I can usually heal, too, didn't I? I have that, my wind spells, and a few powers that boost my wind spells and protect me from my weaknesses. All of us have elements we're weak to and mine's lightning.

We may need to substitute rice for the shirataki noodles, if you are amenable to that.

Which is very easy at that point. Really just dump everything into the pot and let it simmer.]
Precisely! This may sound a little strange, but...
[Hmmm, how to put it...]
... The stranger things get here, the more I want to hold onto my routine as much as possible. I even did my homework that was in my school bag.

[Because his ego is stupidly large.]
It turns out I still have a lot to learn.

Ah, thank you! Though I don't really think that's anything unusual.
[Tsukasa always takes compliments but he doesn't really get this one specifically.]
Everyone else seems to be handling things just fine as well.

There's a difference between handling and embracing, don't you think?
That's my point here.

[He brings a hand to his chin, thoughtful, as he sets his spoon aside in order to pop a lid on top of the pot.]
I see! Then I will further embrace it in order to make the most of this ability of mine.
[Will this help anyone? We'll see. But at least he's happy.]

[Huuuh!!]
I wonder how those elements are decided... do you have any idea?
If I were to have one, I would want wind to be mine as well.
